Trump Takes Aim At Gov. Kemp In Georgia Rally

On Saturday, President Donald Trump blasted Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp while campaigning at Georgia State University. Trump, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, remains frustrated with Kemp over his handling of the 2020 election.

Trump took to his social media platform to express his discontent, stating Kemp should be “fighting crime, not fighting unity and the Republican Party.” He also criticized Kemp’s wife, Marty, for her stance on the upcoming presidential vote.

During his rally, Trump dedicated a significant portion of his speech to attacking Kemp. “He’s a bad guy. He’s disloyal. And he’s a very average governor,” Trump said, emphasizing his belief that Kemp failed to support him during the 2020 election dispute. Trump’s supporters at the rally echoed his sentiments, showing their approval of his comments.

Kemp responded on social media, urging Trump to “leave my family out of it” and to stop “engaging in petty personal insults.” This response did little to sway Trump’s base, who remain steadfast in their support for the former president.

Georgia is shaping up to be a crucial battleground in the upcoming election. Trump’s decision to campaign in Atlanta highlights the importance of the state. His supporters, like Draic Coakley, a 23-year-old from Alabama, are enthusiastic about his message. “President Trump understands people like me,” Coakley said. “He’s rich, but he gets us.”

Trump narrowly “lost” Georgia to Joe Biden in 2020 by just 11,779 votes. He continues to challenge the election results, citing claims of fraud. Kemp, who certified the election results, remains popular within the state and is set to chair the Republican Governors Association for the 2026 election cycle.
