FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker is facing increasing scrutiny over his connections to China just weeks after his appointment, as New York officials become entangled in a growing federal investigation. Tucker, who previously led the private security firm T&M USA LLC, has ties to convicted Chinese billionaire Miles Guo, who admitted to working for Chinese intelligence. Tucker’s firm reportedly installed security cameras in Guo’s Manhattan apartment before cutting ties.

This connection has raised concerns about the extent of Tucker’s relationships with figures linked to Chinese intelligence. Images of Tucker posing with Guo and Duncan Levin, vice president of T&M, in Guo’s apartment have only added to the speculation. Guo, convicted of racketeering, securities fraud, and money laundering, has long been suspected of working for the Chinese Communist Party.

Further intensifying the spotlight on Tucker, his connection to Lin Gui’an, an NYPD official with ties to Chinese Communist Party-affiliated groups, has come to light. Emails revealed Lin’s resume had been forwarded to NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban by T&M staff, raising concerns about potential influence in city policing.

The revelations about Tucker come at a time when New York City is already grappling with corruption scandals. Two former FDNY chiefs, Brian Cordasco and Anthony Saccavino, have been indicted on bribery and corruption charges, accused of accepting nearly $200,000 in exchange for expediting projects. Additionally, NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban recently resigned amid a separate federal probe, further shaking trust in the city’s leadership.

As federal investigations continue, Tucker’s ties to China are raising alarms about possible foreign influence. With growing concern over foreign meddling in New York’s institutions, many are calling for a deeper investigation into the commissioner’s past relationships and potential conflicts of interest.
