Fani Willis Directs Ex-Lover To Remain Silent In House Probe Into Trump Case
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has instructed Nathan Wade, her former prosecutor and ex-lover, to remain tight-lipped during his upcoming deposition with the House Judiciary Committee. Wade, who was deeply involved in the prosecution of President Donald Trump for alleged election interference, has been told to avoid answering questions about confidential matters.
In a letter to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Willis outlined her concern that Wade’s testimony could potentially reveal privileged information. Wade had been tasked with leading the Trump case, which has encountered significant hurdles in court.
The House committee is investigating whether Willis improperly used over $14.6 million in Department of Justice grant funds between 2020 and 2023 to finance the Trump prosecution. The timing of the grants has led to suspicions about political motivations behind the case.
Wade resigned from his role earlier this year after a judge ruled that his romantic relationship with Willis, though not creating a direct conflict of interest, created the “appearance of impropriety.” The close relationship between Willis and Wade has added to the scrutiny surrounding the case.
Trump’s legal team has labeled the prosecution as politically motivated lawfare, aiming to stop Trump from running for president again. The House Judiciary Committee’s investigation is ongoing as it seeks to uncover potential misconduct in Willis’s office.
