The U.S. housing market is poised for significant growth as President-elect Donald Trump’s administration promises to roll back regulations and create favorable economic conditions. Builders are confident that his pro-growth agenda will energize the industry.

Builder confidence has been climbing, with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reporting three months of consecutive gains. Fannie Mae projects a 7.2% increase in new-home sales by 2025, giving builders a reason to be optimistic.

Builders are hopeful Trump will address regulations they say have hampered efficiency. Federal wetlands permitting requirements and strict energy efficiency standards have caused delays and increased costs. Alicia Huey of AGH Homes in Alabama described how these rules have made even straightforward projects challenging.

Huey recounted one project where a wetlands permitting delay left her clients waiting for months. Builders see Trump’s presidency as a chance to streamline processes and remove unnecessary barriers.

Carl Harris, chairman of NAHB, expects more buyers to enter the market as mortgage rates stabilize and economic confidence grows. “The opportunities for growth are tremendous,” Harris said.

With optimism running high, Trump’s administration is expected to usher in a new era of expansion for the U.S. housing market.
