Trump Has Big Plans To Reportedly End The IRS

The Trump administration is taking steps to eliminate the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and replace it with a new system designed to collect revenue from foreign entities rather than American citizens. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick discussed the plan during an appearance on Fox News, explaining how Trump intends to restructure the nation’s tax system.
Lutnick revealed that Trump’s proposal focuses on closing loopholes that allow foreign companies to avoid US taxes. Large vessels, including cruise ships and supertankers, often register in foreign countries like Panama and Liberia to skirt taxation. Under Trump’s new policy, these industries would be required to contribute to federal revenue.
Foreign alcohol imports are another focus of the administration’s tax overhaul. Lutnick noted that while American-made products are taxed, imported goods often enter the US market without paying equivalent duties. Trump’s reforms would impose new fees on these products, helping offset the need for domestic income taxes.
As part of his broader trade agenda, Trump has already introduced tariffs on key imports. New duties have been placed on products from China, Canada, and Mexico, with auto imports and semiconductors set to face additional fees in the coming months. These moves are intended to ensure that foreign nations pay a greater share of America’s economic success.
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is now conducting a review of IRS operations, with officials reportedly assessing the agency’s business units and long-term plans. The IRS, long viewed as one of the least popular government agencies, has been widely criticized for its inefficiency and overreach.
Trump’s plan to overhaul the tax system aligns with his broader push to reduce government waste and return power to the American people. By shifting the responsibility of federal revenue collection to foreign entities, he aims to lessen the financial burden on US workers and businesses.
