There has been mounting evidence in recent years that various branches of the U.S. military have been infiltrated by leftist ideologies related to issues such as race and gender.

This week, new details emerged about the impact that one such philosophy is having on the newest addition to the Defense Department.

U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. DeAnna M. Burt declared at an event that she is more concerned about ensuring the comfort of LGBT service members and their families than she is in finding the most qualified individuals.

Her remarks came during an LGBT Pride event at the Defense Department and included her allegation that laws passed in many Republican-led states to protect children from controversial transgender surgeries and other procedures are actually discriminatory and would make some Space Force members feel unsafe.

“Transformational cultural change requires leadership from the top, and we do not have time to wait,” Burt claimed, citing hundreds of allegedly “anti-LGBTQ+ laws” that have been advanced thus far this year.

She complained that the number of such laws “is rising and demonstrates a trend that could be dangerous for service members, their families, and the readiness of the force as a whole.”

Based on her assessment of the current cultural climate, Burt concluded that matching “the right person to the right job” might mean putting underqualified people in pivotal positions.

“I consider their job performance and relevant experience first,” she said. “However, I also look at their personal circumstances, and their family is also an important factor. If a good match for a job does not feel safe being themselves and performing at their highest potential at a given location, or if their family could be denied critical health care due to the laws in that state, I am compelled to consider a different candidate, perhaps less qualified.”

Her rhetoric attracted widespread criticism, including from former Space Force Lt. Col. Matt Lohmeier, who lost his position following a statement about the perceived negative impact of Marxism on the modern military.

He tweeted: “I was once fired from command in the [Space Force] for allegedly ‘being politically partisan while acting in an official capacity.’ That allegation was totally false. Lt. Gen. Burt here demonstrates what being politically partisan while acting in an official capacity really looks like.”
