CNN Host Demands Facebook Ramp Up Censorship Ahead Of 2024 Election

During a Thursday segment of CNN’s “The Lead,” host Jake Tapper and guest Frances Haugen called on Facebook to ramp up censorship ahead of the 2024 election, saying that the social media platform should “weed out the Nazis” with the “trillions” of dollars they are worth.

After the release of the “Twitter Files,” Americans finally have concrete proof of the federal government encouraging censorship on social media. Despite the widespread outrage over the actions of the government and Big Tech, leftists are still calling for more censorship.

Speaking to Haugen, a former Facebook employee and self-proclaimed whistleblower, Tapper discussed his demands for Facebook to censor so-called “Nazis” and “misinformation.”

“They are worth… trillions of dollars,” Tapper said. “They can hire more people to, you know, to weed out the Nazis and take down misinformation and all that. Why don’t they?”

Haugen, who called for more censorship during testimony before the Senate in 2021, responded by essentially condemning companies for being more concerned about profits than the “social side of the ledger.”

“We have a problem right now that’s pretty simple: We require companies like Facebook to report their profit and their loss numbers and their expenses, like how they got to the profits, but don’t require them to report the social side of the ledger,” she told Tapper. “And if there are consequences like danger to elections, voter disenfranchisement, influence operations, all those things are invisible in quarterfinal reports.”

“Mark Zuckerberg came out earlier this year and said, ‘This interesting opportunity happened. Elon Musk fired 75% of the employees of Twitter are gone and there were no consequences. We can have a year of efficiency,’ and he fired over 20,000 employees. Many of my favorite safety researchers are no longer at the company, and not voluntarily,” Haugen claimed.

This is far from the first time that the left-wing media demanded censorship of unpopular opinions. However, when their demands are boiled down, these leftists aren’t just requesting censorship of so-called “Nazis” — they actually want their political opponents to be censored.

Another CNN employee, Kirstin Powers, openly called for Republicans to be censored during a conversation on the network.

These demands have ramped up even more since Tesla CEO Elon Musk took over Twitter and ended much of the previous regime’s censorship. As all of the Big Tech platforms were no longer on the same page regarding banning conservative speech, the left and their allies in the mainstream media attacked Musk for allowing “hate speech.”

While the left claims that censorship on social media is important to prevent “election interference,” Musk has argued that censorship is actually a form of election interference — especially social media companies’ censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
