Boebert, Greene Bicker On House Floor Over Impeachment Plans
U.S. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) have each attracted significant attention in recent years for their willingness to speak out against President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’s agenda.
Although both are members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and clearly share many of the same ideological beliefs, the two have butted heads on occasion — most notably during the contentious vote to elevate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to his current leadership position earlier this year.
Greene, who supported McCarthy’s bid, took aim at Boebert, who nominated Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) for the position.
The apparent bad blood between the two was on display this week during a confrontation on the House floor, and subsequent reports indicate the argument was about an issue on which the two lawmakers ostensibly agree.
Greene has pushed to advance articles of impeachment against Biden since shortly after his inauguration. Boebert recently introduced her own related effort, and Greene was apparently offended.
“I’ve donated to you,” Greene reportedly told Boebert. “I’ve defended you. But you’ve been nothing but a little b— to me. And you copied my articles of impeachment after I asked you to cosponsor them.”
Boebert reportedly shrugged off the verbal attack, declaring: “OK, Marjorie. We’re through.”
Reports indicate Greene told her colleague that the two “were never together.”
Both lawmakers have since addressed the incident.
“I told her exactly what I think about her,” she said. “It’s purely for fundraising. It’s throwing out red meat so that people will donate to her campaign because she’s coming up on the end of the month, and she’s trying to produce good fundraising numbers.”
Repeating what she reportedly said to Boebert’s face, Greene added: “She has genuinely been a nasty little b— to me.”
For her part, Boebert simply stated: “Like I said, I’m not in middle school.”
