Democrats Beg Biden To Declare Migrant Emergency In NYC
Over 50 New York City Democrats are on their hands and knees begging President Joe Biden to rescue the metropolis from its self-inflicted crisis. The “sanctuary” city is pleading with the White House to declare a “state of emergency” and pour billions into its coffers.
Leaders called the wave of illegal migrants on city streets “unprecedented.” Experts said over 90,000 border crossers flooded NYC, prompting 54 Democrats to beg for the bailout.
Apparently the bed city leaders made by rolling out the red carpet to illegal migrants is uncomfortable. These are the same politicians who heaped scorn on Texas and others attempting to get a handle on a far greater influx than the Big Apple is experiencing.
Democratic State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar of Queens cajoled Biden to fix “one of the most significant humanitarian crises New York City has ever faced.” She termed the situation at “a breaking point.”
The writers declared their “pride” in NYC being a shining light for immigrants. However, they claimed “the influx of migrants is so great the CIty is running out of resources.”
Perhaps Democrats should consider urging the White House to close the open southern border.
The city, led by Democratic Mayor Eric Adams, instituted a program to try to get the word out to border crossers to stay away from NYC. Flyers are being handed out warning illegal migrants the city is full and lacks proper housing and resources to deal with the surge.
Of course, the more logical step would be to simply turn the border crossers back around, but the Biden White House wants no part of that.
The Democratic lawmakers further appealed to the administration to implement a new program at the southern border. Its aim would be to “fairly” move illegal migrants across the nation so the burden does not fall so hard on their city.
Advocates say that 54,000 of the 90,000 incoming migrants since last year are currently housed in the city’s shelter system. This ran the record number of people under city care to over 100,000.
Migrants are now sleeping on Manhattan streets after hotels were filled with illegals. There have even been moves to house new arrivals in schools and private homes, though this met with a predictable backlash.
