Biden-Harris Administration’s Border Policies Under Fire After Illegal Alien Charged With Murder

The Biden-Harris administration is facing renewed criticism after an illegal alien who was released after being detained at the southern border was charged with murdering an 18-year-old girl in Montgomery County, Maryland. Gerber Luis Sanchez Centeno, a 23-year-old from El Salvador, was arrested for the first-degree murder of Dania Cruz-Mejia, also from El Salvador. The incident occurred on September 18 following a domestic dispute.

Sanchez Centeno had crossed into the U.S. on June 2, where he was apprehended by Border Patrol agents near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. However, instead of being detained, he was placed in the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program and fitted with a GPS ankle monitor before being released. Despite DHS having available detention beds at the time, Sanchez Centeno was released and later fled the program in early August, leading DHS to terminate his tracking.

The failure to detain Sanchez Centeno and others like him has led to growing concerns about the ATD program. Critics argue that releasing illegal immigrants with minimal monitoring allows dangerous individuals to evade the law, as evidenced by the murder of Cruz-Mejia. This incident is just one of several recent cases where illegal immigrants, released by the Biden-Harris administration, have been linked to violent crimes.

Recent reports revealed that other dangerous criminals, including members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, were also released after being detained at the southern border. These developments are adding fuel to the ongoing debate over the administration’s immigration policies and their impact on public safety.
