Biden-Harris Regime’s Response To Hurricane Helene Casts Doubts On Commitment To Voting Rights

With the aftermath of Hurricane Helene still bringing suffering and hardship to North Carolinians, the lack of sufficient federal aid has raised serious questions about the abilities and intent of the federal government. Despite the Biden-Harris administration’s claims of ensuring voting access for all Americans, the slow response to the needs of this heavily Republican-leaning region brings the administration’s motives into question.

David Axelrod’s recent comments about the voting capabilities of “liberal voters” in Asheville only add fuel to the fire. His assertion that these voters would “figure out a way to vote” while suggesting that Trump supporters would have a harder time raises concerns about the administration’s focus on aiding all citizens with their democratic rights.

Axelrod assured his Democrat listeners that, “There’s a lot of displacement in western North Carolina. Now, Ashville is a blue dot in that area. But there are a lot of Republican voters there. But those voters in Ashville are … uh … they’re … you know, the kind of voters who will figure out a way to vote. You know, they’re upscale kind of liberal voters. And they’re probably going to figure out a way to vote.”

He not only seemed somehow sure that Democrat voters in Ashville would “figure out a way” to vote, but doubtful that Republican voters in the area will be able to do the same. Why would that be? How will the ballots magically appear in Ashville and not in Republican-leaning areas?

“I’m not sure a bunch of these folks who’ve had their homes and lives destroyed elsewhere in western North Carolina, in the mountains there, are going to be as easy to wrangle for the Trump campaign,” Axelrod said with a suspicious arrogance that raised many conservative eyebrows.

As election day approaches, North Carolina residents are left asking why the federal government is not taking more decisive action to ensure the safety of residents there, and to ensure that every citizen will be able to vote in the upcoming election. If the administration is truly committed to upholding the integrity of “our sacred democracy,” it must find the will and the funding to support voter access in affected regions.

Many suggest that the administration could redirect funds from foreign aid for foreign conflicts to help Americans who urgently need those funds here in the United States. But that seems doubtful, given American citizens’ history of being overlooked by the federal government in favor of foreigners.

Speculation abounds regarding whether the administration’s lack of action is an intentional strategy to suppress Republican voter turnout in a key swing state.

As North Carolinians continue to navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the federal government must demonstrate its commitment to ensuring that all voices are heard and counted in the democratic process.
