Chicago Mayor Sues Bus Companies For Dropping Off Illegal Aliens

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) has filed dozens of lawsuits and issued numerous fines against bus companies that have transported illegal aliens into his supposed “sanctuary city.”

While continuing to claim that Chicago is a “welcoming city” for illegal aliens, Johnson and his allies on the Democrat-controlled city council quietly passed a series of restrictions on bus companies in November designed to target buses that transport illegal aliens into Chicago. The new regulations were reportedly aimed at scaring bus companies away from agreeing to drop off illegal aliens in the overwhelmed “sanctuary city.”

According to Breitbart News, “The new rules restrict when, where, and how often buses may drop off illegal aliens in Chicago. The rules state that buses may only drop off passengers between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and no more than two buses may drop off passengers per hour.”

Another one of the new rules requires bus companies to file for permission to enter Chicago, and that permission “can be denied at the whim of city hall,” Breitbart News noted.

The city has also demanded the right to impound buses that are caught violating these rules, as well as the right to impose fines beginning at $3,000 per bus and increasing for every subsequent violation.

Now, Chicago’s far-left mayor has issued a massive flurry of fines and at least 55 lawsuits against what he has described as “rogue” bus companies because they violated his new rules.

The fines and lawsuits were imposed on 77 different bus companies, most of which were contracted by Texas as part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) ongoing effort to force “sanctuary cities” to face the consequences of their pro-open borders advocacy by bussing illegal aliens from border towns to Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York City and other far-left jurisdictions.

Abbott recently reported that Texas has sent over 16,000 illegal aliens to Chicago since the program began. However, the Texas governor isn’t the only one bussing illegal aliens to Chicago, as the Democrat mayor of El Paso, Texas, has also been shipping illegals to the “sanctuary city.” The Biden administration has also sent massive groups of illegal aliens to Chicago amid the border crisis.

Since May of this year, 463 buses have arrived in Chicago to drop off illegal aliens, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Cassio Mendoza, a spokesman for the Chicago Mayor’s Office, has claimed in a statement that the new rules were implemented to ensure the “safety” of illegal aliens. He went on to argue that Chicago “continues to welcome asylum-seekers but the city cannot safely and efficiently shelter migrants when bus companies, contracted by the State of Texas, flagrantly violate all safety measures that the city has put in place.”

Meanwhile, Chicago is overrun with illegal aliens thanks to the city’s “sanctuary city” policies and President Joe Biden’s border crisis.
