The illegal migrant crisis in Chicago took an alarming but predictable turn this week when several “asylum seekers” were arrested for threatening or attacking police officers.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Tuesday morning around 9:45 a.m. migrant Juan Marquez Vielma, 20, allegedly threatened a police officer at the 12th District station. He was then arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts.

Just over an hour later, 20-year-old migrant Ana Rondon was accused of battering an officer before fleeing. She was captured later that day and charged in the attack.

Two more disturbing incidents unfolded Wednesday. At about 6:20 a.m., a man allegedly stole police equipment from the station and tried to run away. Another migrant is accused of attacking an officer who was in pursuit of the suspect.

Both suspects were nabbed and charges are pending. The officer who was attacked is listed in good condition at a hospital.

These attacks occurred as the city staggered under the weight of an estimated 13,000 migrants arriving from Texas. Chicago officials for decades, however, declared themselves to be a “sanctuary” city and refused to cooperate with federal immigration officials.

Now their chickens have come home to roost.

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is not shy about spreading the wealth crossing President Joe Biden’s open southern border. Busloads continue to disperse illegal migrants into blue cities that rolled out the red carpet for all.

The Windy City’s shelters are full, and migrants are even being housed in police stations. That led to one issue in which the squatters were unhappy with their living conditions.

WGN reported that many in the 12th District became upset when they were forced to wake up and then leave the building at 5 a.m. They were reportedly told to stay on the sidewalk for hours while the lobby was cleaned.

Illegal migrants told the outlet that when they were finally allowed back into the building’ there were no signs that any cleaning had been done.

There have also been multiple incidents of violent encounters between migrants themselves. One 23-year-old stands accused of stabbing an older man in the leg after telling him he had “killed people in the past.”
