CNN: Heat Wave, Not Biden, Caused Gas Price Hike
The mainstream media has long looked for ways to blame climate change for almost any imaginable societal ill, and CNN recently found a way to do so while shifting the blame for high gas prices away from President Joe Biden.
Despite his administration’s claim that Americans have actually benefited from so-called “Bidenomics,” voters do not seem convinced, as evidenced by a host of recent polls.
One major budgetary sticking point for millions of motorists is the rising price at the pump. After draining the nation’s strategic petroleum reserves in order to artificially deflate prices ahead of last year’s midterm elections, the cost of a gallon of gas has crept back up in recent months for a national average of over $3.82 as of Thursday.
According to CNN’s Matt Egan, the hot weather — not Biden’s disastrous energy policies dating back to the earliest days of his administration — is the real reason for rising fuel prices.
He claimed that an “unexpected consequence of this summer’s historic wave” is that life has become “more expensive for drivers.”
Acknowledging that gas prices are at “nine-month highs,” Egan asserted: “Extreme heat has actually increased the price of gasoline.”
The CNN reporter also penned an article making the same point, citing an industry insider who maintained that oil refineries are somehow unable to operate when it starts to get hot.
“Refineries break down in extreme heat,” said Oil Price Information Service President Tom Kloza. “It’s like running an engine at very hot temperatures for a long time.”
Conservative talk show host Pat Gray reacted to the media narrative by sarcastically paraphrasing the argument.
“I don’t want to hear you start blaming our beloved, sharp-as-a-tack president of the United States Joe Biden,” he said. “Don’t you dare try to blame him for it because it’s not his fault.”
Describing the argument as “absolutely mindless buffoonery,” Gray went on to dismiss the prevailing leftist refrain on the topic of climate change.
“Like, I don’t know, the sun?” he began. “You know, that two-million-degree burning orb in the sky? That might have something to do with our temperatures.”
