Coast Guard Refutes White House Dismissal Of Drone Encounter
A U.S. Coast Guard crew member has come forward to challenge the Biden administration’s claims regarding a mysterious drone encounter off the coast of New Jersey. Speaking anonymously to the New York Post, the crew member detailed a dramatic incident in which up to 30 drones followed their vessel for 15 minutes, defying the White House’s dismissive explanation.
According to the crew member, the drones appeared around 9 p.m., flying approximately 80 to 100 feet above the boat. They were described as having four propellers, spanning seven feet across, and displaying red, green and white flashing lights. The drones reportedly kept pace with the vessel at 20 miles per hour, mimicking its course changes before disappearing toward the shore.
The White House, however, has downplayed the incident. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that the drones were likely misidentified airliners and claimed forensic analysis confirmed no drones were involved.
The Coast Guard member strongly rejected Kirby’s assertion. “It’s insulting,” he said, adding, “Commercial airplanes don’t move like that. We’re not idiots — we know what drones look and sound like.” He further suggested the drones were of government origin, not the kind available for public purchase.
The incident comes amid a growing number of drone sightings in New Jersey, particularly near sensitive locations like military bases. Despite dismissing the encounters, the Biden administration has imposed a temporary drone ban over parts of the state until January 17. The FAA has also warned that drones posing imminent threats could be shot down.
Critics, including journalist Michael Shellenberger, argue the administration’s stance lacks credibility. Shellenberger noted that not all sightings could be thoroughly investigated or dismissed as anomalies. The Coast Guard’s account raises further questions about the potential security risks posed by the increasing presence of drones in restricted airspace.
For the Coast Guard crew involved, the issue is not merely academic. “We’re not making this up,” the crew member emphasized, calling out Washington for what he sees as a failure to address legitimate security concerns.
