Constituent Shouts Down AOC During Town Hall
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received a chilly reception Friday when she held a town hall meeting in the Corona neighborhood of New York City.
A raucous crowd greeted the far left “progressive,” and one who stood out was a man wearing a shirt with a Cuban flag and waving an American flag. He loudly declared, “American citizens before migrants” before asking about AOC’s stand on the migrant issue.
Then he proceeded to call her “a piece of s—.”
The Big Apple has notoriously buckled under the arrival of some 70,000 illegal migrants since spring of 2022. Despite identifying as a “sanctuary” city that welcomes one and all, city leaders have been begging Washington for assistance and even shipping migrants to other locales.
It is estimated that NYC taxpayers are footing a $5 million bill every day to house the migrants.
Ocasio-Cortez simply responded “OK” as the vocal protester was escorted out of the room. As for his question, the 33-year-old representative is infamous for her unwavering support for millions of illegal migrants flooding across the border.
Under former President Donald Trump, she accused U.S. officials of housing migrants in “concentration camps” along the border.
And even as her city has received just a dose of what Americans along the border face every day, she still calls for lenient measures from the Biden White House to attract even more illegal migrants into the nation.
The border crisis was far from the only issue on the minds of AOC’s constituents.
Among signs prominently displayed by the raucous crowd were “Stop funding Ukraine,” “AOC: An Obvious Criminal,” and “AOC: Stop pushing drag queen story hour.”
A woman was ushered out of the auditorium after shouting, “Stop funding this war, there’s a lot of communities that need help and need that money.” After Ocasio-Cortez asserted her belief that the White House should eliminate the debt ceiling, she drew another sharp response.
This time a man shouted, “$100 billion for Ukraine that you voted for!”
AOC told CNN last week that “the stakes of default cannot be understated,” though she likely meant “overstated.” She added that chaos would follow with a serious “impact on people’s everyday lives.”
