Democrat Donor Appointed To Commission By Joe Biden Purchased Hunter Biden’s Art
After the Biden administration repeatedly dismissed ethical concerns about Hunter Biden selling art, a new report has revealed that one of the purchasers of the art is a top Democrat donor and “friend” of the Biden family who has been appointed by President Joe Biden to a prestigious commission.
Critics have expressed serious concern about Hunter Biden’s art business ever since it was announced, pointing out that it could just be another influence-peddling scheme.
Now, a new report from Insider has shown that these concerns may have been valid. According to the report, Los Angeles real estate investor Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali bought a piece of Hunter Biden’s artwork. Naftali, who has donated tens of thousands of dollars to left-wing causes, was appointed to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad several months after Hunter Biden’s art went on sale.
However, the report noted that it is unclear whether Naftali purchased the art before or after Biden appointed her to the commission.
The report also mentioned an email from Hunter Biden’s laptop in which he states that he could have sway over who is appointed to the commission.
Another individual who purchased Hunter Biden’s art is his attorney, Kevin Morris — who recently made headlines when he was spotted smoking a bong while Hunter was visiting him at his Los Angeles home. While the New York Times reports that Morris may have been given the art as a gift, Insider asserted that Morris had purchased the piece.
One unidentified buyer reportedly purchased 11 of Hunter Biden’s paintings for $875,000 — which made them the single largest buyer out of the $1.38 million that Hunter’s art has generated.
The Biden administration has repeatedly insisted that Hunter’s art business would have no connections to the president — with then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki claiming in 2021 that “all interactions regarding the selling of art and the setting of prices will be handled by a professional gallerist adhering to the highest professional standards.”
“And any offer out of the normal course would be rejected out of hand, and the gallerist will not share information about buyers or prospective buyers, including their identities with Hunter Biden or the administration, which provides quite a level of protection and transparency,” she added.
Meanwhile, critics have blasted Hunter’s art scheme. Former Obama administration head of the Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub previously argued during an appearance on CNN that the Biden administration had effectively “outsourced government ethics to a private art dealer and they’re depending on unknown art purchasers to help keep the secret.”
“You know, on one level I have some empathy for the President because he can’t control his relatives,” Shaub added. “But on another level it just is implausible that this art from an unknown artist would be selling at this price if it didn’t have the Biden name attached to it. The cachet that comes with buying this art is getting to say that you own art created by the President’s son. And so it really looks like the President’s son capitalizing on his father’s public service.”
