Democrat Propagandist Claims Attacking Bragg Is Dog Whistle That Blacks Controlled by Jews
After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) blasted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his grand jury’s decision to indict former President Donald Trump, MSNBC host Joy Reid suggested that his comments were both racist toward Black people and antisemitic.
On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Trump on a supposed crime that happened over six years ago — well past the two year statute of limitations. Bragg’s case against Trump hinges on a “hush money” payment to former porn star Stormy Daniels, a payment that was made by Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen — who previously admitted that he made the payment himself and had never been reimbursed, but is now changing his story in what critics allege is a vendetta against his former boss. Democrats claim that payment to Cohen in the form of a standard retainer for the lawyer was enough to prove reimbursement.
Bragg himself has long sought an avenue to arrest Trump, campaigning on charging the former president with any crime he can find. The Democrat district attorney’s campaign was funded by Democrat megadonor George Soros — a fact that has been pointed out by numerous conservatives, causing the left, including often-unhinged MSNBC host Joy Reid, to smear them as bigots.
In a post on Twitter following the indictment, DeSantis called Bragg out for weaponizing the legal system against a political opponent — pointing out that the leftist district attorney has been soft on actual crime in his city while at the same time going after Trump, and citing Bragg’s funding from Soros.
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” the Republican governor wrote. “The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”
DeSantis also vowed not to assist if Bragg tried to extradite Trump, a Florida resident, from his state.
“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” he added.
Despite the fact that virtually none of the conservatives calling out Bragg’s association with Soros, including DeSantis, have made any insinuations about the race of the individuals, Reid attacked the Florida governor and claimed his statement was a dog whistle that Black people like Bragg are controlled by Jewish millionaires.
“The governor of Florida does not know the facts so he cannot talk about questionable facts in this case he doesn’t know them. Only the Grand Jury knows them, and this is a sealed indictment,” the MSNBC host huffed.
She went on to claim that “this idea among the right that African Americans, that Black folks who are in positions are controlled by some Jewish overseer who is pulling their strings, that’s what that statement reads like.”
Reid also asserted that DeSantis’ statement was “meant to trigger the far right for his political ambitions, that really do sound like that old meme that this Black prosecutor must be under the secret control of this, you know, murky Jewish millionaire, that could be 1950.”
As NewsBusters noted, “Nowhere in her incoherent ramblings did she explain how attacking Bragg amounted to a ‘dog whistle’ that he’s controlled by ‘Jewish millionaires.’”
