DeSantis Claims Media Attacks Him ‘More Than Anybody Running For Office’
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) claimed in a recent podcast interview that he has been attacked by the mainstream media “more than anybody running for office,” including former President Donald Trump — but social media users disagree.
While appearing on the podcast “Stay Free with Russell Brand,” DeSantis confidently claimed that he is “attacked by the corporate press” more than any other individual.
The comments from the Florida governor, who is currently running in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, came after podcast host Russell Brand asked him how he is dealing with “the tension of being a representative of establishment forces while acknowledging that many people no longer trust the media,” the government or American institutions.
“Well, one I would, I would push back on this idea that I’m representing establishment forces,” DeSantis asserted. “I get attacked by the corporate press, more than anybody running for office more than Joe Biden and now more than Donald Trump, because I think the corporate press views me as a bigger threat.”
DeSantis went on to argue that the mainstream media understands that he will “beat” President Joe Biden if the two go head-to-head in the 2024 presidential election, claiming that the media does not believe that Trump could beat Biden — and even if Trump did win a second term, the media thinks he would be “distracted” and unable to deliver on his promises.
After the clip of the interview went viral, many on social media disputed DeSantis’ claims about being the number one target of the mainstream media.
“Ron DeSantis just gave an interview in which he said he is the most attacked politician in America. Can someone send me the links to when his home was raided by the FBI and his campaign illegally surveilled? I’ll wait,” conservative commentator Sebastian Gorka tweeted sarcastically, referencing the controversial FBI raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Other Twitter users pointed to the wide range of attempts by the Democrats to stop Trump, which have all been exacerbated and celebrated by the mainstream media — sarcastically questioning whether DeSantis has faced any of these attacks.
“Has he been falsely impeached twice by the Democrats? Has he been falsely indicted three times by the Biden admin? (And even more persecution to come). Has he been falsely accused of every crime in the history of the world? Has he been fingerprinted by a jumped-up DA in New York? Has he had his Twitter account shut down? Has he had his entire home violated by govt. agents?” one Twitter user wrote.
