Sen. Lindsey Graham’s phone is now in the FBI’s possession following concerns it may have been hacked. The South Carolina Republican said he received a message he believed was from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, but it turned out to be from an impersonator.

“My phone is in the hands of the FBI now,” Graham stated at the Hill & Valley Forum on Capitol Hill Wednesday. He explained, “I get a message, I think, from Schumer, it ain’t from Schumer, and next thing you know, my phone’s, I don’t know what.”

The Senate’s Sergeant at Arms, responsible for cybersecurity in the upper chamber, is investigating the potential hack according to Graham’s spokesperson Taylor Reidy. On Monday, the Sergeant at Arms reportedly cautioned senators about a phishing scheme.

Graham, 68, is the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary and Budget Committees. He’s also known for his hawkish foreign policy views and support for former President Donald Trump in the Senate..

In a separate interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Graham recently predicted the Supreme Court will grant Trump immunity for some actions taken while in office. “I think the court’s going to find that presidential immunity exists for President Trump like every other president,” he said. “But you’ve got to be within the scope of being president.”

Graham dismissed concerns about voters needing to know the results of Trump’s court cases before the November election, saying most people have “written this off,” commenting on the political lawfare being waged against the former president.

The senator’s ties to the president make a hacked cellphone a potentially much more serious situation, as the former president has had a history of being spied on in the past.
