In the wake of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris has swiftly secured endorsements and financial commitments from left-wing billionaire donors. Key figures such as George Soros and his son Alex Soros are backing Harris, promising substantial funding for her campaign.

Gretchen Sisson, a leading Democratic fundraiser in California, expressed excitement over the enthusiastic response from donors. “Lots of folks are asking where to contribute, what they can do to support the campaign, and wanting to write more,” Sisson said. This surge in interest marks a significant boost for Harris’s campaign.

Reid Hoffman, a major donor with a history of substantial contributions to Democratic campaigns, has endorsed Harris. Despite controversy over his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, Hoffman’s financial influence remains strong. His support, alongside that of Alex Soros, highlights the robust backing Harris is receiving from influential figures.

Emily’s List and Way to Win, organizations that steer major donor contributions, have also endorsed Harris. These groups are mobilizing their networks to provide financial support for her campaign, underscoring the broad base of backing she is securing.

Chris Korge, finance chair for the Biden Victory Fund, noted that many donors had been hesitant to contribute due to uncertainty surrounding Biden’s campaign. With Biden’s decision to step aside, Korge expects a significant increase in donations for Harris. “There’s been a lot of people holding back contributions that will now contribute because the whole situation was paralyzing our fundraising,” Korge said.

Harris has consistently attracted support from wealthy donors, particularly in California. During her 2019 presidential campaign, she received substantial funding from residents working in law firms, multinational corporations, and Silicon Valley tech companies. Events hosted by billionaire Gordon Getty and Gov. Gavin Newsom further emphasized Harris’s appeal to high-profile donors.

With endorsements and financial backing from the Democratic Party’s elite, Harris is positioned to receive significant support for her presidential campaign.
