Hunter Biden Slammed With Nine Tax Charges In California
First son Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday on nine tax charges in California — three felonies and six misdemeanors. The special counsel investigation is suddenly bearing fruit as the 2024 presidential election season approaches.
Hunter Biden’s days of hiding behind his father’s coattails may be coming to an end. The question now is when will the senior Biden be held accountable?
The new charges are piled onto the federal firearms charges filed in Delaware. These followed accusations that the younger Biden violated federal laws against drug users purchasing weapons. He almost wiggled out of this entanglement before the sweetheart plea deal fell apart.
Now Biden faces special counsel David Weiss, who said the accused “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than pay his tax bills.”
The tally for 2016 to 2019 reached at least $1.4 million.
The 53-year-old Biden faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted. The indictment said that “the Defendant engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owned for tax years 2016 through 2019.”
Instead of fulfilling his financial obligations, the indictment alleged he shelled out enormous sums “on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing and other items of a personal nature.”
Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden’s attorney, released a statement claiming his client repaid the Internal Revenue Service in full. He further accused Special Counsel Weiss of political bias and reneging on an agreement reached with his client.
Lowell asserted that Biden’s last name led to the charges filed both in Delaware and now in California.
He added his belief that Weiss “bowed to Republican pressure.”
The indictment charged that Biden enjoyed substantial earnings while serving on the board of a controversial Ukrainian energy conglomerate and a Chinese private equity firm. He raked in over $7 million in total gross income from 2016 to 2020, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors allege that in 2018, Biden shelled out “more than $1.8 million, including approximately $772,000 in cash withdrawals, approximately $383,000 in payments to women [and] approximately $151,000 in clothing and accessories.”
The indictment said none of his funds went to taxes in 2018.
No, if Hunter’s last name were anything but Biden, he would have long since been indicted.
