Illegals Breach Border, Push Children Under Razor Wire
As Eagle Pass, Texas, continues to face an influx of illegal aliens, a group of illegals was arrested on Thursday afternoon by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers for breaching the razor wire barrier meant to deter border crossings.
Over the past week, Eagle Pass has experienced a massive increase in illegal border crossings. Fox News reporter Bill Melugin has been chronicling the influx in videos posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.
Late Thursday morning, illegal aliens began flooding across the Rio Grande in small groups from Piedras Negras in an attempt to reach the Texas border in Eagle Pass. As they arrived on the other side of the river, they lined up along the riverbank and confronted DPS troopers at the razor wire barrier. Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents were nowhere to be found.
This altercation came just one day after DPS officials and the City of Eagle Pass declared that the park on the U.S. side of the border was private property and announced that anyone breaching the razor wire barrier would be arrested for criminal trespass.
The illegal aliens didn’t immediately breach the barrier, instead engaging in what was essentially a standoff with DPS troopers for several hours before finally becoming frustrated and approaching the wire. Eventually, small groups began crossing under the razor wire near the El Camino International Bridge — pushing young children under the wire with them.
After successfully crossing into the U.S. under the wire, the illegal aliens were all arrested by DPS troopers and moved to a nearby rallying point for processing. According to a DPS spokesman, all of the single adults in the group will be arrested and prosecuted for violations of Texas law. If any of the groups are verified to be actual families, the family units would be turned over to Border Patrol agents for processing.
This news comes after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) accused the Biden administration of ordering Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire installed by the state in Eagle Pass amid a continued battle between Texas — which is trying to secure its border and stop illegal immigration — and the Biden administration, which is refusing to secure the border and aiding illegal aliens in entering the U.S.
“Texas installed razor wire in Eagle Pass to stop illegal crossings. Today the Biden Admin CUT that wire, opening the floodgates to illegal immigrants. I immediately deployed more Texas National Guard to repel illegal crossings & install more razor wire,” he wrote in a post on X.
