Man With ‘Hail Satan’ Knife Allegedly Breaks Into House, Meets Gun-Toting Homeowner

A suspected burglar found himself on the wrong end of the law, and a bullet, when he allegedly attempted to break into a home in Taylor, Texas. According to reports from Taylor Press and KVUE, the incident unfolded late Monday night when a homeowner reported a man wielding a knife attempting to enter their residence.

The situation escalated when the intruder managed to gain entry into the home, prompting the homeowner to take action. The homeowner, exercising their Second Amendment rights, fired a shot, striking the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Austin Sumpter, in the hip.

Law enforcement officers arrived to find Sumpter lying on the front porch with a gunshot wound. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A significant piece of evidence recovered from the scene was a large knife with a sheath inscribed with the words “Hail Satan,” allegedly belonging to Sumpter.

Upon his release from the hospital, Sumpter was booked into Williamson County Jail on a felony burglary charge, with bail set at $25,000. The Taylor Police Department stated that they do not anticipate filing charges against the homeowner.

This incident underscores the importance of the Second Amendment in allowing individuals to defend themselves and their property.
