Nebraska Gov. Pillen Signs Women’s Bill Of Rights

Women’s rights are front and center in Nebraska after Republican Gov. Jim Pillen signed a powerful executive order. He established common sense definitions of “male” and “female” and other biological terms that should not need defining but now do.

Among them were “woman,” “girl,” “man,” boy,” “mother” and “father.” It is a testament to how far the nation has slid in 2023 that these require defining.

Pillen declared in a press release, “It is common sense that men do not belong in women’s only spaces. As governor, it is my duty to protect our kids and women’s athletics, which means providing single-[gender] spaces for women’s sports, bathrooms and changing rooms.

The executive order mandated that state agencies perform their duties based on the established definitions. It is a far cry from the leftists’ battle to try to find a meaningful definition of “female.”

In simple terms that any elementary school biology student will understand, a “female” is classified as a person whose reproductive system “is developed to produce ova.” Easy enough.

A “male,” on the other hand, is an individual whose reproductive system is developed “to fertilize the ova of a female.”

The order extended protections specifically to “athletics, prisons or other detention facilities, domestic violence shelters, crisis centers, locker rooms, restrooms and other areas where biology, safety and/or privacy are implicated.”

The executive order took effect immediately and is set to expire only when there is a state law concerning biological males participating in women’s athletics. Nebraska state Sen. Kathleen Kauth pledged to bring the Sports Spaces Act to the legislature next year.

She noted that 23 states have already passed similar legislation. Kauth said she recently spoke to a mother in Lincoln whose daughter’s basketball team was forced to face another squad with a biological boy.

The lawmaker pointed to the recent University of Nebraska volleyball event held in the football stadium that drew a record crowd of 92,000. 

This the the largest gathering ever for a women’s sporting event and proved how important protecting female athletics is to the state.

Pillen became the second U.S. governor to sign an executive order declaring definitions of “male” and “female.” Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a similar order earlier in August.
