Putin Warns West: Russia Prepared To Unleash Nuclear Arsenal
Russian President Vladimir Putin told the nation in a Wednesday morning broadcast that he is ready to unleash his nuclear arsenal on the West over its actions in the Ukraine War. He added, however, his belief that the U.S. will follow a course of “restraint.”
Putin is currently up for re-election to serve his fifth term in office. There is little doubt he will succeed, and many observers believe the vote is merely a formality.
Part of his ire against Western powers concerned the recent revelation that the CIA installed 12 spy stations in Ukrainian territory along the Russian border long before the beginning of the war, and has been instrumental in attacks that have killed Russians.
The facilities, whose existence were revealed by the New York Times late last month, are the “nerve centers” for U.S. and European intelligence operations against Russia. For nearly a decade, D.C. positioned spying resources along the Russian border to intercept communications.
The sites also traced the Kremlin’s spy satellites. They were completely financed and at least partially equipped by the CIA as the front line of its operations against Moscow.
This, of course, drew the ire of Russian officials and largely validated claims that Ukraine was a pawn of the West utilized against the nation.
In light of this, Putin told his countrymen Wednesday that the Kremlin stood ready to deploy its arsenal to defend the homeland. He said that he did not perceive the rest of the world “rushing to it.”
The president cited Russian military doctrine that mandates nuclear strikes if the Kremlin, national sovereignty or independence are under attack. Putin assured the interviewer that “we are ready for this…from the military, technical viewpoint, we are prepared.”
He further responded to French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent saber rattling concerning NATO troops possibly positioned in Ukraine.
Macron was criticized for escalating tensions but has since doubled down on the threat. Putin was not amused.
He declared, “The nations that say they have no red lines regarding Russia should realize that Russia won’t have any red lines regarding them either.” Putin then remarked that battlefield tactical nuclear weapons have not been deployed in Ukraine because they have not been needed.
Putin is widely expected to gain another six years in office with this week’s election.
