Sen. Tuberville Rails Against ‘Satanic Cult’ Influencing American Culture

Concerns among conservatives about America’s departure from its Christian heritage are nothing new, but one GOP senator recently highlighted what he sees as a particularly troubling period in the country’s history.

During an appearance at a campaign event in Utah on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Trent Staggs, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) lamented the “satanic cult” he believes is behind a rapid depletion of traditional principles.

“We’ve lost our moral values across the country,” he declared.

Tuberville described the upcoming election not as a battle between political parties but as an “anti-American vs. American” showdown.

“I’ve traveled all over this country — all 50 states,” he said. “I’ve been in good places and bad places. The one thing I saw, we are losing our kids to a satanic cult.”

The Alabama Republican provided a remedy to put the nation back on the right track, which involved once again embracing the Constitution and the Bible.

“We’ve got to get God back in our country,” Tuberville asserted. “There’s not one Democrat that can tell you they stand up for God.”

While his troubling prognosis began with a broad assessment of the nation’s perceived trials, he went on to analyze several specific issues that he said have contributed disproportionately to the nationwide trend. He mentioned the shift toward a far-left interpretation of gender, a politicized justice system and civil unrest that could once again threaten the outcome of a pivotal election.

When a local reporter caught up with Tuberville following his remarks, he doubled down on his stated concerns.

“They’ve basically taken God out of everything that we’re doing,” the senator said. “I don’t know any other way to express it other than it’s some kind of cult that they’re trying to push on our kids and all Americans. We have got to get back to our moral values. If we can’t get back to that and let the Democrats continue to push this cult on us and take God away from our country, we’re going to have huge problems.”

Both Tuberville and Staggs used the opportunity to distance themselves from the policies of retiring Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), whose seat Staggs hopes to fill in the upcoming congressional session.

“I’ve seen Mitt Romney make promises to Utahns that he didn’t deliver on,” the candidate declared. “This is the choice you have before you. Do you want to replace Mitt Romney with Mitt Romney 2.0?”
