Trump: ‘COVID Hysteria’ Brought Back Because ‘Election Coming Up’
During a Friday night speech at the South Dakota GOP Convention, former President Donald Trump warned that “COVID hysteria” was being brought back because “there’s an election coming up” — and called on Republicans to step up to stop the tyranny.
Over the past several weeks, the mainstream media and Democrat politicians have begun ramping up discussions about COVID. Several businesses and institutions across the country have even reinstituted mask mandates — prompting concern from critics over the coincidental timing, as election season is heating up. Many of these businesses later removed their mask mandates following backlash.
Several high-profile individuals have also recently tested positive for COVID, including “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg and First Lady Jill Biden.
The White House has also begun “encouraging” Americans to get another COVID vaccine.
In light of all of this new “COVID hysteria,” Trump called on Republicans in Congress to take action to prevent the Biden administration from reinstituting authoritarian COVID mandates and restrictions.
“Congressional Republicans should also stop the Biden administration from bringing back COVID mandates, lockdowns, and restrictions of any kind, cutting off the money,” the Republican frontrunner said during his convention speech.
“And, in your state, because of your governor, you’re not going to have that problem, but a lot of states do,” Trump added, referring to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R).
Trump and many other Republicans have long believed that Democrats used the COVID pandemic to push through unconstitutional mass mail-in voting and ballot harvesting schemes that helped them win the 2020 election — which is why conservatives are so concerned about the recent “COVID hysteria” in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
“The radical Democrats are trying hard to restart COVID hysteria,” Trump argued. “I wonder why? Is there an election coming up by any chance?”
“I saw just the other day for the first time: ‘We’re thinking about masks again.’ I said, ‘what’s going on? Oh, that’s right: There’s an election coming up,’” he added.
“No, these guys will do anything. But we can’t comply because it’s bad,” Trump continued.
Later in his speech, Trump appeared to get emotional as he talked about the state of the country under President Joe Biden’s leadership. A clip of that moment went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“We helped build America into the greatest nation in the world,” Trump said before getting visibly emotional.
“Now, we are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation,” he said after a long pause.
