Trump Demands Death Penalty For Traffickers After ‘Sound Of Freedom’ Screening
Former President Donald Trump attended a screening for the blockbuster film “Sound of Freedom” earlier this week — and had some strong comments about the penalties for human trafficking after viewing the film, which was based on true events of rescuing children from traffickers.
The film, which was independently produced and distributed, became a surprise success at the box office earlier this month and recently rose above the $100 million mark. The movie stars actor Jim Caviezel, who plays real-life Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard — who chose to quit his job in order to focus on rescuing children from international trafficking rings and bringing those criminals to justice.
In a video message published on Friday after the special screening of the film at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club, Trump vowed to use Title 42 to return all child trafficking victims to their families in their home countries.
“I will urge Congress to ensure that anyone caught trafficking children across our border receives the death penalty — immediately,” he added. “And that includes, also, for women — because women as you know are number one in trafficking. Children are actually number two.”
“Together we will end the scourge of human trafficking and we will defend the dignity of human life,” Trump continued.
The former president also praised “Sound of Freedom” in the video message, declaring it a “very important film.”
“Everyone should see it. This is a very important film, a very important movie, and a very important documentary wrapped into one,” Trump explained.
He went on to pledge to bring an end to the “Biden border nightmare” that has exacerbated the problem of human trafficking, drug trafficking and illegal immigration at the southern border.
“We will fully secure the border,” Trump vowed.
During the screening of the film, Trump was seen sitting beside Caviezel, director Alejandro Gómez Monteverde and Ballard. The former president was visibly moved by the film and did not leave his seat for the entire duration.
Trump spoke to the audience after the movie was over, telling the crowd: “I hope you enjoyed it. It’s something I’m not sure if you’re supposed to enjoy or learn — it’s a combination. But that was a great movie. Now I understand why it’s doing so well.”
He also told Caviezel “it was an honor getting to know you.”
“I hope everyone had a fantastic time. It’s an incredible inspiration,” Trump concluded.
