President Donald Trump was hurried off the stage by Secret Service agents at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after reports of possible gunfire.

Trump was seen touching his ear and crouching as shots rang out, with blood visible on his face. He was quickly escorted to safety and taken to a local medical facility for assessment.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung confirmed that the former president is fine and thanked law enforcement and first responders for their swift response. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated, “This is now an active Secret Service investigation, and further information will be released when available.”

Reporters on the scene noted the quick response from security personnel.

Right after the incident, Trump was seen holding up a fist in the air and appearing to say the word “fight” as he signaled to the crowd his intentions as he was taken to an SUV to leave the area.

The incident has drawn reactions from political figures and the public. North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), a potential vice-presidential candidate, called for prayers for Trump and the rally attendees.

President Biden has been briefed on the situation.

The Trump campaign released a statement expressing gratitude for the rapid actions of the Secret Service and law enforcement. They emphasized that Trump is in good spirits and undergoing routine checks at a medical facility.

As investigations continue, more details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and the individuals involved.
