Trump To DeSantis: ‘Return Home, Address Florida’s Crises’
In a dramatic portion of his address at the Turning Point Action Conference, President Donald Trump called upon Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to return to the Sunshine State, emphasizing the urgency to address the home and car insurance crisis besieging his home state. Trump’s speech took place on Saturday evening in West Palm Beach before the conservative conference, which included several powerful conservative leaders, including media personality Tucker Carlson and 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Trump’s remarks highlighted the increasing insurance woes in Florida, a problem worsened after AAA announced its decision not to renew home and car insurance policies for some Florida policyholders, joining Farmers Insurance in this drastic move. “He’s got to get home and take care of the insurance situation which is the worst in the nation,” Trump urged.
Adding an electoral layer to his comments, Trump further suggested that the funds currently funneling into the DeSantis campaign could be better utilized to build a robust vote-gathering operation, one capable of outmatching what Trump termed “Democrats’ cheating and ballot harvesting.” He passionately argued that this was a moment for unity in the party, a time to focus resources against opponents rather than dividing the party.
“Instead, DeSanctus and his establishment handlers are wasting precious resources to divide our party right when we should be uniting against the unprecedented weaponization of law enforcement by Crooked Joe Biden and the Communist Left,” Trump stated.
The Turning Point Action Conference faced controversy as hundreds of attendees were denied entry, despite waiting hours in scorching temperatures. Videos posted on social media showed furious supporters chanting, “Let us in,” with one woman expressing her frustration about being denied entry after a four-hour wait in a sweltering garage.
The woman stated: “We want Charlie Kirk to come out here and tell us, after standing in line for four hours in 115-degree-sweltering garage to be told when we finally get to the front that we can’t come in.”
However, despite these incidents, the conference did attract a large crowd, with Charlie Kirk boasting about an “Unbelievable day at #ActCon2023. 7,000+ people. 50 states. 2,000 precinct committeemen. Incredible energy.”
The words of Trump, still the leading figure in the conservative movement, should undoubtedly weigh heavily on DeSantis. With the former President’s call to action and the insurance crisis looming large, the Governor faces a choice – continue his national ambitions or return home to address the growing concerns in Florida.
