President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), under the direction of Elon Musk, has successfully taken over the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), locking out its officials and sealing off headquarters. The move has cut off entrenched bureaucrats from their own operations, marking a major win in Trump’s effort to dismantle Deep State power structures.

DOGE operatives moved in quickly, seizing control of USAID’s classified systems and financial networks. More than 600 employees lost access to their computers overnight, and two top security officials, including Director of Security John Voorhees, were placed on leave after refusing to grant DOGE full entry. By the next morning, USAID’s Washington headquarters was completely locked down, with yellow police tape blocking access.

Musk, who has been vocal about USAID’s alleged corruption, confirmed on X that Trump had reviewed the findings and agreed that the agency needed to be shut down. A White House statement accused USAID of reckless spending, highlighting that taxpayer dollars had been funneled into DEI initiatives, electric vehicle subsidies, and global left-wing projects rather than humanitarian aid.

Investigations have also exposed USAID’s financial connections to Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company linked to Hunter Biden. Reports indicate that the agency’s funds were used to support legal actions against Trump, raising concerns that it had been weaponized for political purposes rather than its stated mission. Republicans have long argued that much of USAID’s $40 billion budget is wasted on bureaucratic overhead rather than direct assistance.

Democrats and federal employee unions have filed lawsuits against DOGE, claiming unauthorized access to government data and personnel records. Senate Democrats have also pressed Secretary of State Marco Rubio for answers, questioning how DOGE was able to bypass USAID leadership and take full control of its systems so swiftly.

USAID’s website has been taken offline, and discussions are reportedly underway about potentially merging the agency into the State Department. With its leadership blocked from access and its budget frozen, the future of USAID remains uncertain as Trump continues his push to dismantle Washington’s entrenched bureaucracy.
