Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sparked outrage by attacking President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) during a U.S. visit where he begged for more taxpayer dollars to fund his failing war against Russia. Zelenskyy’s visit, which included a tour of a Pennsylvania ammunition plant funded by American taxpayers, comes as Ukraine’s war effort flounders and the Ukrainian leader continues to undermine democracy in his own country by canceling elections.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Zelenskyy criticized Trump, claiming the former president doesn’t understand how to stop the war, despite Trump’s promise to negotiate peace. Zelenskyy also attacked Vance, suggesting his plan would involve Ukraine surrendering territories to Russia, a notion he flatly rejected while begging the U.S. for more support.

This audacious move by Zelenskyy — to not only demand more money from the U.S. but to interfere in the upcoming election by attacking a leading candidate — has drawn harsh criticism. Conservatives are particularly angered, noting that Zelenskyy has suspended democracy in Ukraine while expecting American taxpayers to fund his war.

Trump Jr. slammed Zelenskyy’s behavior as disgraceful, especially after a pro-Ukraine zealot recently attempted to assassinate his father. The fact that Zelenskyy continues to push for more funding while attacking a potential future U.S. leader who has pledged peace underscores the arrogance and desperation behind his failing leadership.
