New reports indicate President Joe Biden is gearing up to announce his 2024 reelection campaign, which will reportedly come in the weeks following his family vacation.

Multiple sources told The Hill that Biden is preparing all of the details for another presidential campaign, claiming that the president will be making his intentions public in the coming weeks — likely sometime around the State of the Union Address in February.

While the president’s State of the Union speech is typically given in late January or early February, it is expected that the address may be delayed as a result of the drawn out House Speaker vote, as Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was only elected early Saturday morning after 15 rounds of voting.

Another source close to Biden’s 2020 campaign told The Hill that the president plans to make a more formal campaign announcement in April. Biden’s team has reportedly been in the process of working on an extensive overhaul of his digital presence.

“Last month, a group of Biden’s top advisers met with key allies and constituency groups to talk about the president’s agenda. But one attendee told NBC News it had the feel of a ‘strategy session ahead of a campaign launch,’” The Hill reported.

“And as Biden tried to make a decision about his political future, his aides were quietly building the infrastructure needed for a new campaign,” the outlet added, noting that “The Washington Post reported last month that aides were working to expand their digital footprint on platforms such as TikTok and WhatsApp, where political advertising is prohibited.”

While it is unclear exactly when Biden plans to make the announcement, the president has been out of the country in St. Croix on vacation with his family for the holidays. Another source told The Hill that Biden has used the time with his family to speak to them about his potential 2024 reelection campaign.

Meanwhile, Biden has been making comments and jokes about the 2024 presidential election for some time now.

Just before the new year, while on a family vacation in the Virgin Islands, the president responded to a question from a reporter about a potential reelection bid, supposedly joking by saying: “There’s an election coming up? … I didn’t know that.”

In November, Biden told reporters during a press conference that his potential reelection campaign is “ultimately a family decision,” adding that he planned to discuss the issue during the holidays and will announce his decision in the new year.
