Tucker Carlson Discusses Where Biden’s Ukraine Aid Should Have Gone
During Thursday’s broadcast of his Fox News show, host Tucker Carlson detailed what the staggering $100 billion in Ukraine aid could have been used for in the United States.
In a fiery rant against the Biden administration’s actions, Carlson called out President Joe Biden and his top officials for continuing to try to intervene in foreign affairs while not actually having the amount of influence necessary to do so.
The Fox News host went on to call out the shocking amount of taxpayer dollars being sent to Ukraine, pointing out the fact that there are numerous ways the money could be used to actually help Americans — including those in East Palestine, Ohio, who are suffering from the effects of a train derailment that spilled toxic chemicals into their environment, causing pollution and health problems. While the disaster was continuing to unfold in East Palestine, Biden instead traveled to Ukraine to provide aid to its citizens.
“Let’s pretend we would only spend $100 billion in Ukraine so far,” Carlson said. “You know we have. What can we do with $100 billion here in the United States? For one thing, and this has been in the news recently, we could modernize our rail system to avoid the thousand derailments we have every year and the mushroom clouds over Ohio that sometimes result from that.”
“$100 billion is more than five times the entire discretionary budget of the Department of Transportation,” he added. “There is just $13 billion in the DOT budget for transit and less than $3 billion for Amtrak. Remember that? The artery that connects the cities on the East Coast?”
“Then there is the FAA, that’s the government agency that is supposed to prevent planes from crashing into each other, killing hundreds of Americans,” Carlson continued. “They got $20 billion in the last budget. Given that planes seem to be coming very close to hitting each other lately, it might be worth funding the FAA a little more.”
The Fox News host then argued that the taxpayer dollars sent to Ukraine could have instead been spent to finish building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, to cover costs for cancer patients or even to help reduce the rate at which the national debt is rising. He also blasted socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for not standing up to question the massive spending for Ukraine.
Since Russia’s February 24, 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. has sent more than $100 billion in aid to the war-torn country. In January, the Biden administration took it up a notch — announcing they would be sending Ukraine 31 M1 Abrams main battle tanks, which came after their December announcement that they were sending a battery of MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine.
Carlson went on to call out the mainstream media’s “corruption” for not even questioning the Biden administration’s continued financial support of Ukraine.
“In this country, it’s a measure of our media’s total corruption that no one ever asked anyone in the Biden administration what the United States is hoping to accomplish in Ukraine,” the Fox News host said. “As long as it takes to do what, exactly? The original answer was to push Russia back to where it was a year ago before they invaded Ukraine. That seemed like a measurable and reasonable objective. The public seemed behind that. Then without fanfare or even official notice, the goal changed.”
He then argued that the Biden administration seemed to be pushing the U.S. towards World War III against both China and Russia.
“That is truly crazy,” Carlson said.
