Nina Jankowicz Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Fox News

Nina Jankowicz, who formerly led a U.S. Department of Homeland Security section based on policing so-called disinformation, has filed a lawsuit against Fox News for defamation, claiming its conduct put her well-being at risk. 

Her suit officially began after it was filed Wednesday, alleging that numerous hosts at the network made false claims about her work, thus creating a movement in opposition to her that ultimately led to the end of her position.  Jankowicz was assigned as the executive director of the Disinformation Governance Board, only for it to later be destroyed entirely. 

First formed in April 2022, the agency was halted merely three weeks later following backlash from defectors, according to The Guardian. It was then terminated by the DHS in August. 

Jankowicz’s lawsuit reportedly centers on three allegations she says Fox threw at her: the idea that she planned to censor speech, the notion of her being fired, and a claim that she intended to grant Twitter users such as herself the ability to edit the posts of other accounts. 

It also notes that Fox Hosts would call her names, including a “wicked witch”, a “disinformation czaress” and a “lunatic.”

“Fox’s defamatory coverage has caused Jankowicz and her family immense suffering,” reads the suit. “Jankowicz has been doxxed, threatened, harassed and even cyber-stalked.”

It also blamed social media posts and messages on Fox, saying the network’s coverage of her in the news cycle, particularly surrounding her desires to censor speech she does not approve of, invited threats and harassment on the web. 

RedState reported that at least $55,000 was raised for the lawsuit via a crowdfunding request put out by Jankowicz in March.

Not long after Jankowicz’s position was first announced by the Biden administration last year, many Americans joked, often perhaps without intending irony, that she is now heading the ‘Ministry of Truth.’

At the time, Jankowicz posted a Tik Tok video showing herself singing a Mary Poppins spoof in which she essentially labeled dissenters of orthodoxy that is routinely parroted by the mainstream media as launderers of ‘disinformation.’

“It shouldn’t be something we just accept … that the most powerful cable network in the world can attack individuals willy-nilly and not face any consequences after they ruin their lives,” Jankowicz, who is a public figure, reportedly said of her suit.
