Donald Trump Jr. Confirms X Account Hacked
Former first son Donald Trump Jr. encountered the perils of social media Wednesday morning when his account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, was hacked by an unknown party.
Several messages obviously not originating from the younger Trump suddenly appeared. They included, “I’m sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024.”
Others read, “Some interesting messages with Jeffrey Epstein…” and “This just in: North Korea is about to get smoked.”
Still others referred to social media influencer Logan Paul and President Joe Biden was targeted with an offensive message. The posts were deleted from Trump Jr.’s account, and X posted these instructions for those who are victims of similar attacks.
“We’re sorry you’re having this experience. If you think your X account has been compromised but you’re still able to log in, click here to reset your password.”
If that is not possible, X recommends filling out a provided form and waiting for someone from the social media platform to be in touch.
A spokesperson for the former president’s son told Fox News Digital that the postings on the account were “false and inflammatory.” Trump Jr. has more than 10 million followers on X.
Trump Jr. apparently has regained control over his account but has not posted a message concerning the hacking. His younger brother, Eric Trump, teased him over having his personal account accessed by a stranger.
Eric Trump posted, “What was @donaldtrumpjr’s password? Don2024?” He added a laughing emoji.
Trump Sr. mostly sticks to his Truth Social platform, though his family has a substantial presence on X. The Republican frontrunner for the 2024 presidential nomination was a consistent presence on social media during his time in the White House.
After he ran afoul of X’s previous ownership, Trump began his own Truth Social platform. He thus far has regularly resisted efforts to lure him back to X, but his extended family enjoys a large footprint on social media elsewhere.
There is no word on the identity of the hacker of Trump Jr.’s X account.
