Donald Trump Released Thanksgiving Messages
Former President Donald Trump released multiple Thanksgiving messages to Americans celebrating the holiday — including one in which he vowed that, by the time next Thanksgiving comes, the United States will be “well on its way to being stronger, safer, more prosperous and greater than ever before.”
In a short message published on Thursday morning, Trump thanked the “heroes” serving “in uniform this Thanksgiving,” while offering the American people hope for a better future.
“I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving,” he began. “Today, as we gather with our loved ones, we give thanks to Almighty God for His many blessings — including our families, our friends, our neighbors and this extraordinary country that we all call home.”
“We also send our deep gratitude to all of the patriots serving our nation in uniform this Thanksgiving,” Trump continued, specifically naming the military, Border Patrol, police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and first responders.
“This is a difficult time for our country — but do not lose heart or lose hope, because by the time we celebrate next Thanksgiving, our nation will be well on its way to being stronger, safer, more prosperous and greater than ever before,” he added.
“Once again, happy Thanksgiving and God bless you all,” Trump concluded.
The former president also released another Thanksgiving message on Wednesday evening, praising the pilgrims who made the dangerous voyage to “settle a new land where they could live and worship freely.”
While wishing Americans a “blessed and joyful” holiday from himself and his family, Trump called on Americans to remember what it means to live in this great nation.
“Nearly four hundred years ago the pilgrims gathered with Native Americans to give thanks to their first harvest,” he began. “Just over a year before, in September of 1620, the pilgrims set sail on the Mayflower to settle a new land where they could live and worship freely.”
Trump went on to explain that the pilgrims had come “to this continent with few resources but rich in faith, courage, and dreams,” and were able to survive the winter and enjoy a plentiful first harvest.
“Since then, Americans have always remembered the blessings of freedom and the glory of God,” he added.
Trump then explained how Thanksgiving became a national holiday, and gave thanks for the Americans who came before us who built this great country.
“Today we give thanks for all the pioneers, pilgrims, and patriots who have gone before us, and for all those warriors who have kept us safe and free,” he said, lamenting the fact that thousands of Americans in uniform would not be able to spend the holiday with their families this week.
