Louisville Mass Shooter Targeted ‘Rich White People’
The manifesto penned by Louisville mass shooter Conner Sturgeon, 25, has finally been released. It expressed his motivation for the bank massacre was to kill “rich White people” and drive home his point about the need for more gun control.
Surgeon’s atrocity was carried out on Apr. 10 at Old National Bank. The former employee made several journal entries before the shooting that claimed the lives of four former co-workers and a police officer.
Nine others were injured before he was killed in a shootout with responding officers.
Sturgeon, who previously battled mental health issues, dated the first journal entry Apr. 3. He wrote that his life was meaningless and noted his desire to make a change.
He then rattled off a list of issues that brought him to this state of being. These included inflation, access to guns, climate change, a lack of mental health resources and political leaders who are uninterested in helping everyday Americans.
The next entry, dated the following day, was more alarming. Sturgeon wrote on the same day he purchased a firearm that he wanted to murder “rich White people” to impart a lesson on the need for gun control.
Sturgeon wrote, “I have decided to make an impact. These people did not deserve to die, but because I was depressed and able to buy [guns], they are gone. Perhaps this is the impact for change — upper class White people dying.”
The shooter took a bizarre route to prove a frivolous point, and five innocents died in the process. He expressed his hope that his massacre “will knock some sense into them. If not, good luck.”
Investigators found Sturgeon’s intentions in the Notes app on his phone. He complained that political leaders “won’t listen to words or protests, so let’s see if they hear this.”
The obviously disturbed shooter also took aim at the National Rifle Association (NRA). He ranted, “But let’s not forget the most important player here. The one who made all this possible. [Let’s] give it up for the NRA!!”
Sturgeon had no prior criminal record so he was legally able to purchase a weapon. He underwent the required federal background check and apparently had no issues, and his mental health situation had never been reported to authorities.
The fact that an anti-gun shooter decided to prove a point by killing five people only demonstrates the absurdity of his argument. His family intends to sue the gun manufacturer.
