A Democratic congressman recently provided more stark evidence of the thoroughly misguided priorities that guide the political left. Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-VA) declared that Ukraine’s border with Russia is actually the border of the U.S.

He did so while ridiculing true patriots concerned over Biden’s illegal migrant invasion at the country’s true border.

Connolly declared, “Some say we have to deal with our border first. The Ukrainian Russian border is our border!” His diatribe was followed by the passage of the bill giving yet another $60 billion in aid to Kyiv.

The Democrat did not stop there. He claimed “it’s the border between depraved autocracy and freedom-loving people seeking our democratic way of life. Do you have a stake in the outcome? Yes. Undeniably, yes.”

When the measure passed the House, Democrats embarrassingly rose in unison and waved tiny Ukrainian flags — a clear breach of congressional decorum.

Not only are they confused over what is the true border that needs protection, but they brandished the wrong flag. Is it any wonder voters are increasingly tiring of prioritizing faraway conflicts over the chaos within their own nation?

Not surprisingly, Connolly is also a supporter of funding Gaza, which supports Hamas terrorists fighting against a strong U.S. ally.

This is the same Gaza and Hamas that carried out the Oct. 7 atrocity that claimed 1,200 Israeli lives. It is also where over a hundred Israeli citizens are still held in bondage after being kidnapped by terrorist forces.

And to make bad matters worse, Connolly voted against securing the southern border with Mexico the very same day.

The Fairfax County Republican Party wasted no time pointing out this obvious political conundrum. How can a Democratic lawmaker claim a border on the other side of the planet is more important to secure than the one pushing up against the nation’s own backyard?

Fairfax is Connolly’s backyard, and its constituents well remember the tax-and-spend policies he championed on his way up the ladder to Washington.

The GOP group noted the wide disparity between the native son’s concerns over Kyiv’s security and that of his voting constituents.
