Democrats Advance Effort To Allow Voting By Undocumented Migrants

A number of prominent conservative pundits have argued that the left’s ultimate goal involves providing a so-called “path to citizenship” for all those who violated the nation’s immigration laws, thereby allowing them to vote — overwhelmingly for Democrats — in future elections.

Some jurisdictions have already begun advancing measures allowing non-citizens to vote and, as U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TX) has pointed out, even without giving migrants the right to vote, their presence in the country increases the number of representatives and electoral votes afforded to the states and districts where they reside in the greatest numbers.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk offered a similar assessment, writing on social media: “More presidential and House of Representative electoral votes will be assigned to the new illegals Biden has let in than the population of 40 US states. Let that sink in. Increasing illegals boosts Dem voting power, causing them to recruit even more! If Dems win President, House & Senate (with enough seats to overcome filibuster), they’ll grant citizenship to all illegals & America will become a permanent one-party deep socialist state.”

This week, a group  of 19 Senate Democrats — led by Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois — sent a letter to the White House effectively laying out that plan in black and white.

Among the recommendations put forward in the document is the implementation of an accelerated path to legal status for the more than 10 million undocumented migrants allowed to illegally cross the border under the current administration.

“We urge your Administration to take all available actions to streamline pathways to lawful status for undocumented immigrants, providing certainty to the American businesses, communities, and families who rely on them,” the letter begins.

Before launching into a list of demands, the Democrats took a swipe at the proposed policies of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, specifically an endorsement of mass deportations, which the letter claimed “would devastate the American economy and destroy American families.”
