A D.C. federal judge has reissued a gag order on former President Donald Trump at the request of Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Judge Tanya Chutkan, who had temporarily lifted the gag order at the request of Trump’s legal team, reinstated the order following concerns raised by Smith’s team regarding a social media post by Trump on Truth Social.

In the post, the former president allegedly commented on a news report about a former White House chief of staff agreeing to testify in the ongoing election case in Georgia. Judge Chutkan used the post to justify reinstating the gag order on Trump, claiming the post singled out a possible witness, potentially influencing their testimony and involvement in the case.

Chutnak asserted that “The statement singles out a foreseeable witness for purposes of characterizing his potentially unfavorable testimony as a “lie” “made up” to secure immunity, and it attacks him as a “weakling and coward” if he provides that unfavorable testimony — an attack that could readily be interpreted as an attempt to influence or prevent the witness’ participation in this case.”

Trump has come out strongly against the decision, pointing out that it infringes on his First Amendment right to free speech. He characterized the order as unconstitutional, particularly during presidential campaign, where he is leading in the polls against all potential contenders — including President Biden.

The former president took to Truth Social to deliver a message to his followers regarding the decision to use state power to silence a political rival to the current regime, writing, “This order, according to many legal scholars, is unthinkable.”

This development comes on the heels of Trump facing a $10,000 fine in his ongoing New York civil case for violating the initial gag order imposed by the judge. The legal battle surrounding the former president continues, with debates over freedom of speech and the right to a fair trial at the forefront.

As Trump faces the current lawfare assault from multiple directions, he continues to dominate in the polls, signaling a lot of support from Americans across the country. It will be interesting to see if that support translates into pressure to stop the targeted attacks by leftists and RINOs to deprive the American people of the opportunity to decide their next president.
