Massie Takes Stand For Freedom Against Renewed Pandemic Fears

As the Biden administration flirts with reinstating pandemic measures like mask mandates, one voice of reason comes from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). Amid growing concern over the “latest increase in COVID-19 cases,” Massie brings a crucial message — don’t let constitutional freedoms fall victim to what he perceives as unscientific and unconstitutional mandates.

“If bureaucrats try to reinstate any COVID tyranny measures, resist them with a vengeance,” Massie posted on the X platform, formerly Twitter. He further argues that bureaucrats are “not empowered by the Constitution to make laws that govern your lives, so it is they who will be engaged in disobedience.”

Massie’s message comes on the heels of questionable moves, such as Morris Brown College’s “temporary” mask mandate without any COVID cases on campus and health care company Kaiser Permanente implementing mandates “in response to this latest increase in COVID-19 cases.” For Massie, these moves echo the administration’s trend of imposing mandates without thorough public scrutiny.

Besides mandates, the Kentucky Congressman has been vocally critical of government censorship regarding the pandemic, specifically by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). During a Judiciary Committee hearing last month, Massie grilled DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over “malinformation,” a term cited by the DHS to justify flagging “disinformation concerns.”

“Isn’t malinformation a made-up word that refers to information that’s actually true but just inconvenient to the government narrative?” Massie asked. His questioning showcased his belief that efforts to silence discourse may be more about controlling the narrative than ensuring public safety.

When pressed, Mayorkas couldn’t provide a straightforward answer on whether undermining trust in U.S. institutions is illegal, stating, “We embrace and protect First Amendment principles.” Despite the double-speak, Massie stuck to his guns. “You say that false or misleading narratives about COVID-19 need to be censored,” he said, implying that the Biden administration’s view is that free speech is dangerous when it contradicts the government’s position.

Massie’s skepticism is hardly unfounded. Despite media alarm over rising COVID numbers, questions remain about these statistics’ true nature and implications. The Biden administration and allied agencies seem more intent on policing narrative and mandating behavior than addressing these pressing questions.

Therefore, Massie’s call for non-compliance is a critical reminder of the inherent rights and freedoms that should not be casually sacrificed. “Even if they are held accountable as they should be, there will be legions of others ready to take their places, UNLESS we all stop complying with their unconstitutional edicts and unscientific whims,” Massie posted on the X platform.
