House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has issued six subpoenas to various Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security officials — including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who he has accused of helping to obstruct the committee’s investigation into the Biden family’s shady foreign business dealings.

Comer released a statement on Tuesday explaining the subpoenas, where he argued that Mayorkas is “complicit” in the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) “coverup” of the Biden family’s corruption.

The subpoenas seek documents and testimony related to how the Biden administration is dealing with claims that federal investigators tipped off the Bidens about their investigation into Hunter Biden. Earlier this year, FBI and IRS whistleblowers came forward to allege that the Biden transition team and Secret Service headquarters were tipped off ahead of time about a plan to interview Hunter Biden in December 2020. The investigators were then told to stand by — but were never given permission to proceed with the interview. The whistleblowers also alleged that the investigations into Hunter Biden’s finances and foreign business dealings had been corrupted and politicized.

“The Department of Justice initiated the Biden family coverup and now DHS under the leadership of Secretary Mayorkas is complicit in it. Investigators were never able to interview Hunter Biden during the criminal investigation because Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were tipped off about the planned interview. This is just one of many examples of the misconduct and politicization during the Department of Justice’s investigation,” Comer’s statement read.

“The Oversight Committee – along with the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees – is seeking interviews with key witnesses, including employees at the Secret Service. The Department of Homeland Security is obstructing our investigation by muzzling the Secret Service from providing a response to Congress. The American people deserve transparency, not obstruction. House Republicans will hold the Biden Administration accountable for running interference for the Biden family’s corruption and criminal activity,” the statement continued.

“After months of obstruction by @DHSgov and the U.S. Secret Service, I am issuing six subpoenas today. @GOPoversight will continue to fight for transparency and accountability on behalf of the American people,” Comer wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
