Former Fox News host-turned-independent journalist Tucker Carlson has declared his strong support for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election — even vowing to “lead protests” in support of the GOP primary frontrunner.

Carlson made the comments during an appearance on comedian Roseanne Barr’s podcast last week, where the pair discussed the 2024 election and Trump’s political persecution by the American justice system.

While Carlson previously expressed animosity toward Trump in leaked text messages, it appears that his opinion has since changed. He revealed in his conversation with Barr that his support for the former president became official when President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) conducted a controversial raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, last year.

“I’ve always agreed with Trump’s policies,” Carlson explained. “I became an active Trump supporter when they raided Mar-A-Lago last summer. That can’t stand.”

He went on to note that he would even support Trump if he disagreed with him, solely because of the weaponization of the justice system against him.

“I agree with Trump on a lot but even if I disagreed with Trump on a lot, I’d still be a Trump supporter because you cannot allow that,” Carlson said. “You cannot allow the regime, the President of the United States to use the Justice Department to knock the frontrunner out of the race. You can’t do that.”

Carlson also explained that the issue was much bigger than just one man, as the treatment of Trump has exposed a larger problem with the justice system in the United States and the federal government itself being weaponized against people who are a threat to the establishment. He then vowed to support Trump with his vote, his money and even his presence at the helm of pro-Trump protests.

“It’s bigger than Trump, it’s bigger than Biden. It’s, do you want to live in a free country with a functioning justice system,” he said. “So, I’m voting for Trump, and if they convict him, I will send him the max donations and I will lead protests.”

Carlson’s comments echo the sentiment of many conservative voters, including prominent conservative commentators who have asserted that the indictments against Trump have only made their support for him stronger.
