President Joe Biden is facing backlash on social media after he suggested that African American and Hispanic workers don’t have high school diplomas — and the White House is desperately trying to cover up the gaffe by altering the transcript of the speech.

Biden’s comments came during a Thursday speech at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland, where he touted his administration’s supposed economic accomplishments.

“We’ve seen record lows in unemployment particularly — and I’ve focused on this my whole career — particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, the workers without high school diplomas,” the 80-year-old president said.

However, the White House later released a transcript of the speech that sneakily added one word into Biden’s sentence — changing the entire meaning of the statement. According to the White House, the word “and” was supposed to separate the comment about African American and Hispanic workers and veterans from the statement about workers without high school diplomas.

The edited transcript shows Biden’s speech reading: “We’ve seen record lows in unemployment particularly — and I’ve focused on this my whole career — particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, and the workers without high school diplomas.”

Meanwhile, critics took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to blast Biden for his remarks — a clip of which was shared by RNCResearch.

“What an embarrassment,” one person wrote.

Another user deemed Biden a racist.

While one user tried to defend the president, claiming that he meant to include “and” in his speech, another responded with a meme of Biden’s most infamous racist comments from his past — including telling Black voters that if Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won the election, the GOP was going to “put y’all back in chains.” Another quote in the graphic was from the 2019 campaign trail, where Biden told a crowd that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

“He is usually honest with how he feels about minorities,” another user wrote, adding: “How he continues to get their vote is mind-boggling.”

“Just when you start to think Biden can’t get any worse, he does,” another person responded.
