White House Attempts To Correct Kamala Harris’ ‘Reduce Population’ Statement
During a recent speech about green energy, Vice President Kamala Harris advocated for reducing the population to battle climate change. Now, the White House is attempting to do damage control.
Harris made the comments last week during a speech at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was supposed to be discussing the Environmental Protection Agency’s $20 billion grant to green energy projects.
“When President [Joe] Biden and I took office, we set an ambitious goal … to cut our greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050,” the vice president told the audience on Friday.
“When we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce population, more of our children can breathe clean air and drink clean water,” Harris added.
After Harris’ comments began to go viral, the White House edited the transcript of the speech — crossing out the word “population” and replacing it with the word “pollution.”
This edit didn’t stop social media from roasting Harris — with many claiming that this slip-up was just an accidental admission of the true goal of “climate alarmists.”
“Reducing population has always been a goal of climate alarmists. It was the premise of John Holdren’s book Ecoscience, and Obama made him climate czar,” political commentator Stephen Miller tweeted.
Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) made similar comments in a recent tweet, noting that Harris said “the quiet part out loud regarding her and other climate alarmists very anti human ideology and their desire to ‘reduce population.’”
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) joined in questioning Harris’ comments, asking in a tweet, “Are you the population she wants to reduce?”
“Reducing population is [nuts],” responded Twitter owner Elon Musk, using a peanut emoji. “We need to increase population.”
