Woke Arsonist Who Set Fire To Trump Sign Identified By GPS Data

An anti-Trump arsonist in Raleigh, North Carolina, has been identified by GPS data after he was caught on video kicking a “Trump Won” yard sign, then returning to the scene days later to set it on fire.

In the video shared to social media by the sign’s owner, local businessman John Kane, the arsonist can be seen riding up to the yard sign on his bicycle just after 7 a.m. on August 12. The unhinged man proceeds to kick the sign five times with his right foot before realizing that his efforts are futile and riding away.

The same man then returns to the scene at 4:19 a.m. on August 15 and sets the sign on fire before running off.

Kane, who is also a Republican political activist, put up a new “Trump Won” sign after the first one was torched. Then, the same unhinged arsonist returned on August 18 to set the new sign on fire. Kane noted in a follow-up post that the video mistakenly identified the date as February 18.

Kane has retained legal counsel to hold the arsonist accountable in civil court if the Democrat district attorney in Wake County does not move forward with the case. His attorney, James R. Lawrence II, posted on social media about the case.

“Regardless of what the Wake County District Attorney’s office does with this video, accountability is coming. [Kane], the owner of the burned sign in this video, has retained me to file a lawsuit against this pyro-activist once he is identified,” Lawrence wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

After the video of the arson went viral, two political commentators — Tim Pool and Benny Johnson — each offered $5,000 rewards for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist. This is on top of the $1,000 already offered by Kane.

The arsonist has since been identified by internet sleuths using several identifying factors such as his tattoos, bicycle and helmet. However, the information that truly cracked the case was his account on the hiking, cycling and run tracking app Strava. The alleged arsonist, registered Democrat James White Jr., reportedly tracked three bicycle rides between August 12, 15 and 18 — all of which coincide with the dates of the vandalism. The GPS data from these rides confirm that he rode past Kane’s residence.

White has since set his Strava account to private after he was identified, but not before an internet sleuth from California — who has asked to remain anonymous — emailed Kane’s lawyer with the bicyclist’s Strava profile, GPS data and timestamped maps of his rides to confirm that he was the arsonist.

Kane announced on X that he had already paid the reward to the anonymous individual.

“I sent him $1,000 as promised a few minutes ago and will be sharing his information with Tim Pool and Benny Johnson so that they can do the same,” Kane wrote in a tweet. “I am truly grateful to each of you for lending your audience and money to catching this arsonist.”
