Dan Noyes, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and investigative reporter for ABC7 Bay Area News, was brutally attacked while riding his bicycle in San Francisco over the weekend.

In a video shared to X, formerly known as Twitter, Noyes revealed that he had been attacked by a group of teenagers while riding his bike in San Francisco’s Presidio Park. While the video was shot during the incident, Noyes did not share it until Wednesday. He noted in the post that the attack “sent me to the hospital,” adding that he “was able to get some video” of his attackers.

“US Park Police responded quickly. I was concerned about other people being targeted,” Noyes wrote.

“I’m just here along the waterfront, right by Sports Basement. The Palace of Fine Arts is right over there. I was riding along this bike path just now,” he said in the video, as an image of a map of the area was displayed alongside the footage.

Noyes went on to say that he had just posted on X about “how great of a night it was” and “how pretty it was,” when he was suddenly attacked.

“I’m coming home and I see a group of probably 15 young teens… probably couldn’t drive yet, on bicycles right over here,” he continued. “And I’m coming by and I’m looking at them just making sure no one was crossing — trying to make sure I wasn’t being in someone’s way, or someone was getting into my way, and one of the kids all of a sudden just rushes over and body blocks me off my bike.”

“I came crashing to the ground — my left elbow is pretty darn sore, hope it’s not a hairline fracture or something, but I nailed hard onto the ground,” he added.

The video then shows an image of his discharge document confirming that he had sustained a “radial head fracture” to his elbow. Another image then shows his severely bruised elbow.

Noyes then explained that one of the teenagers tried to steal his bike while he was on the ground, but he managed to scare the group off by telling them that the footage of their actions would be on the news.

“I got up and the kid had grabbed my bike and was starting to run away,” Noyes said. “Well, I jumped up and went after him and said ‘You’re about to be on channel seven.’ The kids, at that, just scattered.”

“I was able to take some video as they left — one group over the tunnel tops, the other heading to the Golden Gate. I think this kid who didn’t have a bike was the one who pushed me,” he added, as the video zoomed in on the only teen in the group without a bicycle, who Noyes had circled in red.

Several bystanders stopped to check on Noyes after the attack, including a tourist from Germany. Speaking to the tourist, Noyes noted that he was “sorry to see our city like this.”

“Man, I’ve been a victim of crime before, but this was one of the more personal and shocking ones, tonight, here in San Francisco,” he concluded the video.
