Republican lawmakers are demanding immediate emergency hearings in the House after it was revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is urging a judge to order Hunter Biden’s former business partner Devon Archer to report to prison immediately — just before his scheduled testimony on Monday.

Archer has repeatedly canceled and rescheduled his testimony before the House in their investigation of Hunter Biden’s illicit foreign business schemes — where he is expected to testify that President Joe Biden actively participated in the business ventures to the point where he was on the phone with Hunter’s business partners on multiple occasions.

Now, after House Republicans have finally cemented a date for Archer’s testimony, it was revealed that the DOJ has allegedly tried to obstruct the Committee’s investigation.

The New York Post’s Miranda Devine broke the news in a tweet.

“The DOJ is trying to arrest Devon Archer ahead of his bombshell testimony Monday about Joe Biden’s involvement in his son Hunter’s Ukraine business when he was VP. US attorney in the SDNY Damian Williams issued a menacing letter yesterday – Saturday – telling Judge Abrams to order Archer to go to jail immediately to serve a one year sentence for his fraud conviction,” she wrote.

Devine’s tweet included a screenshot of a letter from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, in which they requested that U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams schedule a date for Archer to report to prison after a jury convicted him of defrauding a Native American tribe and several investment advisory clients of tens of millions of dollars. His sentence has been postponed numerous times because of several appeals.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) spoke out about the news during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“It’s odd that it was issued on a Saturday, and it’s odd that it’s right before he’s scheduled to come in to have an opportunity to speak in front of the House Oversight Committee and tell the American people the truth about what really went on with Burisma,” Comer said.

“The lengths to which the Biden legal team has gone to try to intimidate our witnesses, to coordinate with the Department of Justice, and to certainly coordinate with the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee to encourage people not to cooperate with our investigation, to encourage banks not to turn over bank records, to encourage Treasury not to let us have access to those suspicious activity reports,” he added. “It’s very troubling. And I believe that…this is another violation of the law. This is obstruction of justice.”

Other Republican members of Congress spoke out about the news on Twitter, demanding an immediate hearing on the DOJ’s allegedly criminal conduct.

“The DOJ is now actively committing the crime of obstructing a congressional investigation… If Devin Archer isn’t in the witness chair Monday, we better haul every SOB at the DOJ before congress EVERY DAY to make them pay for this. Lmk – I’ll come back to Washington tomorrow to do this. Archer is in that chair or Garland is. Yield me the time and let me ask the questions. I’ll handle it from there,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted.

“I will join you back on the Hill,” wrote Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) in response to Gaetz’s tweet.

“1) Agree. 2) I will be available as well. 3) In addition to hearings and pressure to comply – will we use the power of the purse for this come 9/30? Will we do the same with Mayorkas?” tweeted Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX).

“Make that four. While I plan to be in Wyoming visiting constituents- this is imperative and warrants immediate action. I will also join,” Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) tweeted.
